In my master thesis on Performance Design at Roskilde University I examined how a design based on the theoretical and philosophical concept of ‘technological mediation’ could grow an ‘attentive listening’ consisting of a more focused, contemplative and intimate listening experience and sense of cohesion with the surroundings. The thesis contributes to an understanding of our sonic being in the world as essential for a rich existential and sensuous livelihood.

“The video is an attempt to convey my exploration of mindful listening using technological artifacts as tools. As a supplement to other sound recordings in the master thesis, which reflect the intensity of the experience, the video practically demonstrates how I moved through the forest with the technical listening equipment. The sound from the microphone I recorded with is synchronized with the video, so you see through the camera but hear through the handheld microphone.
